Tips For Focus and Concentration Improvement
|
How To Improve Concentration Using HypnosisKnowing how to improve concentration is vital when you want to perform at your best, study a new topic or pay close attention to someone or something. Luckily you can improve concentration in the same way you can become fitter or stronger by going to the gym. Hypnosis is a useful tool in teaching you how to improve concentration. To achieve a natural deeply relaxed state, you gradually narrow your focus of attention and turn your attention inwards, teaching yourself to concentrate and focus. A simple hypnosis technique to achieve a deeply relaxed state and to improve concentration is the “Body Scan” exercise. 1. Lie down in a warm, comfortable position, with your arms by your side. Take a moment or two to settle down your body and adjust your position, maybe aligning your back or stretching out your legs, until you are truly comfortable. 2. Focus all your attention on one leg, quieting down your awareness of other parts of your body. It doesn’t matter if it’s your right or left leg, just chose one leg for now. Move all your attention to that leg and as you become aware of the pressure of the leg on the mat or the mat on the leg, use your internal voice to say “my leg is incredibly heavy” three times, slowly and calmly. 3. Now change your focus of attention and become aware of the whole body. Starting at the toes, imagine a warming, comforting coating or energy moving gently up from your toes over your ankles and spreading gently over your calves and shins. Allow this “body scan” to progress at your own speed up over the legs onto the belly, back, neck and finally over your face until your whole body is warm and relaxed. 4. Similar to step 2, focus on the opposite leg, and narrowing your attention down to this leg only repeat “my leg is incredibly heavy” three times, slowly and calmly. 5. Repeat step 3, with the full body scan. Maybe you imagine an orange or red glow warming up your body, or maybe some other colour, what ever is right for you and allows you to relax more deeply. 6. Similar to step 2 and 4, now focus on both legs, and this time repeat “my legs are incredibly heavy” three times. 7. Repeat the body scan. 8. Go back to step 2, this time focussing on one arm and repeat “my arm is incredibly heavy” three times, slowly and calmly. Repeat the body scan. 9. By now, you’ve probably got the idea :>) Move onto your other arm, do a body scan and then focus on both arms together. This whole process may take you anything from 8 to 15 minutes if you are going at a calm, relaxed pace. Repeat the whole exercise again if you have time, or wish to deepen your relaxation. Focussing your mind and reducing mental chatter helps to improve concentration.
