Take the Stress out of Meeting PeopleSome people really enjoy meeting people and forming new relationships, and others find this very stressful. Some people go so far as to avoid other people and may even be afraid to leave the house. This is called social phobia and is more common than you may realize. If you suffer from this problem, you may despair of every changing, resigned to living a life of loneliness. It may help to know, though, that you are not alone; some 15 million people are affected by social anxiety. People dread meeting people for a variety of reasons. Some have low self-esteem and are afraid of rejection so much that they don't even do anything. Some people feel that others are watching and judging them negatively, even though logic tells them this is not so. These are all examples of people who are so afraid that they suffer from social anxiety, which can bring on a variety of symptoms, such as headaches, sleeplessness, nervous stomach, and excessive sweating. There are medications available to help you if you are afraid of meeting people. Some doctors prescribe certain antidepressants with great success. But if you don't like the idea of having to take a pill every day, you can easily treat your social phobia through hypnosis. Going into a state of deep relaxation, which is what hypnosis is, can allow you to access the fears that are stored in your subconscious. When you do that, you can relearn how to interact with people and how you feel about it, which causes your fear of meeting people to be eliminated.
