How To Overcome Jealousy And Tame The Green Monster
We all experience jealousy at one time or another, and it may not be just in our love relationships. Maybe we’re jealous of a friend’s new car or someone at work who got a promotion. But our relationships with others can be ruined if we don’t learn how to overcome jealousy.
There are two kinds of jealousy: appropriate and inappropriate. If your lover cheats on you, the jealousy you feel is appropriate. There’s a reason for it and you have every right to feel the way you do. But if you’re jealous and afraid that your lover will cheat on you even though he’s never given you any reason not to trust him, that’s inappropriate and needs to be dealt with. It’s tough knowing how to overcome appropriate jealousy, and even tougher if you’re dealing with inappropriate jealousy, but it can be done.
If you want to learn how to overcome jealousy, you can try reasoning with yourself, but the problem is, you’re feelings are not conscious. Your fears are rooted deep in your subconscious mind, so you can tell yourself all you want that you have to stop feeling this way, but it probably won’t do much good.
