Do You Suffer from Performance Anxiety?

When you think of performance anxiety, all kinds of things might come to mind: a public speaker paralyzed by fear, a basketball player missing his free throws because of nerves, or someone afraid of intimacy. All of these things happen because of performance anxiety, which, like any anxiety, can be safely and successfully treated.

We all have to perform at some point in your lives--in relationships, in school, and in our jobs. And there is so much that goes into each and every performance: thoughts, attitudes, emotions, behaviours, and physiology. If we have any kind of negativity in any of those aspects, we are at risk for performance anxiety. Everyone is at risk, actually, because of the very nature of the competitive world that we live in today. So what do you do if you have this kind of anxiety?

Our logical minds tell us that we will get better at our performances the more we do them. Unfortunately, our feelings of fear and embarrassment often override our logical mind. However, this is a way to bypass the logical mind and find relief from anxiety. The logical mind is a part of the conscious mind. Another part of the mind is the subconscious mind, and when you use hypnosis, you can cross that line between the conscious and unconscious. When you get into the subconscious mind, you will be able to learn how to quickly and easily alleviate your fears, replace negative thoughts with positive thoughts, and rid yourself of anxiety.
